I am Mrs Smith and I am the Executive Head Teacher for Firbeck Academy.  I have had the privilege to make a difference to the lives of children as a teacher and a senior leader over many years.

I am responsible for the strategic direction of the school and drive all aspects of school improvement.  At the heart of any decision I make is 'what impact will this have on the children and the community our school serves?' I am looking forward to sharing with you the vision I have for Firbeck.  Please do join me when the date of this meeting is scheduled.

Out of school I enjoy reading, visiting new places and spending time with my daughter.

I am Mrs Cheung, the SENDCo at Firbeck Academy. I am also part of the school leadership team.

SENDCo stands for special educational needs and/or disabilities coordinator. My job is to oversee the strategic development of SEND policy and provision. I work with classroom teachers, parents, other members of the senior leadership team and relevant external agencies to develop, implement, and monitor individual support and provision. I offer support and advice relating to the identification of needs and suitable provision to meet those needs across school.

Hello, I am Mrs Buck the Early Years Lead.

I love teaching Early Years as I get to be a part of the children’s first learning experiences in our school.

I live with my husband and our 2 year old cockapoo and we are soon to be expanding our family with the addition of a little Baby Buck – we are very excited!’

Details regarding Mrs Buck's Maternity cover will be shared with Parents as soon as this is confirmed.

My name is Mrs Lindsey.

I am part of the support team, the midday supervisors, and the Governing team.

I have been working at Firbeck Academy since 2018. During my time I have had the privilege to support lots of children helping them grow and succeed in their individual goals. I have been lucky enough to work throughout the school with children from EYFS all the way through to year six. I cannot wait for September to work with even more children who will be starting and continuing their adventure in their school journeys.

Hey there! I'm super excited to introduce myself as the new Year Two teacher at Firbeck Academy. It's awesome to be part of such a fantastic school. My love for exploring and traveling all began during my time as a flight attendant. My favourite quote is by Peter Mc Williams “Nothing Adventured, Nothing attained”. I hope to have many adventure led experiences in the classroom for the children to enjoy.

I like to express myself through art, especially drawing and painting, this is a big part of my being. I often like to go to museums and admire art work. The most recent museum I have visited is the Louvre Museum in Paris!

Finally, I love to be in water! I like to swim and keep fit. I’m an energetic person who likes to keep active. I am eager to infuse Firbeck Academy with my creativity and energy!

Hello, I am Mrs Mitchell, I am a Teaching Assistant and have been a part of the Firbeck family since 2021.

I enjoy supporting the children, particularly with outside learning in the school Allotment as gardening is one of my passions outside of school life.

We are sad to be saying goodbye to the following staff at the end of this academic year, but the whole team wishes them well in their new ventures:

Mrs Sneath is currently part of our Early Years team supporting Pre-school and Reception with Mrs Buck's team.  Mrs Sneath will be leaving us at the end of this year to join The Millford Academy as a Teaching Assistant as the position is closer to her home.

Miss Sneath's position is currently being advertised and we hope to confirm her replacement with parents before we break up for the summer.

Mrs Hebbs is our current Year 1 teacher and has been part of the Firbeck family since 2021.  Mrs Hebbs is taking up a new class teacher position at West Bridgeford Junior School.

Mrs Hebbs is being replaced by Mrs Travers, who brings a wealth of experience with her to Firbeck.

Mr De Malplaquet our current Year 2 class teacher has also been with Firbeck since 2021, he is taking up a new class teacher position at a school close to where he and his family live, walking distance in fact!

Mr De Malplaquet is being replaced by Miss Kauser who is relocating to take up her position with us.

Miss Woodward currently leads Year 4 and has been with us since September, she will be moving on to a new class teacher position at Ravensdale Junior School.

Miss Verco has been successfully appointed as class teacher for Year 4 next year, she will already be familiar to a lot of our families as she has been a working with Firbeck as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for the last academic year.  Be reassured Miss Verco is also a qualified teacher.

Whilst we are sad to see these staff leave the Firbeck family we are very excited for next year and the new team we have in place, and are looking forward to the ongoing developments to come at Firbeck.
