  • Signing Choir's visit to St John the Baptist CofE Primary School

On Thursday 27th April, the Firbeck Academy Signing Choir went to visit St John the Baptist Primary.

The day was focused around appreciating people who were different and perhaps gaining a little more of an understanding of them. As a result they had in a guide dog and his trainer, the police and various other people who talked about difference and tolerance.

Our pupils, along with Miss Potter and Mrs Blatherwick taught the St John’s Year 6’s in a lesson about how to sign different colours. They then signed four songs in front of the whole school and some of the parents.

It was a great afternoon and everyone did extremely well. They made us all very proud.

  • Safer Internet Day 2017

Safer Internet Day 2017 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 7th February

The UK Safer Internet Centre – a partnership of three leading charities; Childnet, the South West Grid for Learning and the Internet Watch Foundation – provide resources for children, schools and families, and tools for getting involved at www.saferinternetday.org.uk.

Children learn about how to be safe on the internet, not just on safer internet day, but EVERY DAY! We have a special assembly to promote activities to make children think and behave safely on the internet. Mrs Sellar is available on Wednesdays after 3.00pm to provide support and advice about keeping children safe on the internet. Parent workshops will be held on both parent evenings in March. Come along and find out what your children know!
